Well I guess I am from the demographic. I love a wine in can - easy to drink and you do not have to worry about a glass. It is very convenient and incredibly funky - the description 'wine in a can' does not give it justice. It is just plain fun!

The whole idea is to slug the wine directly out of the can -- no doubt very practical if you are doing 30 knots on your sailboat in the Great Australian Bite. Even on a picnic I would prefer to (yes, unscrew my Stelvin capped) glass bottle of wine but it doesn't have to be poured into a Riedel glass. My point there was that this glass company claim that even bad wines taste better when drunk from their glasses. So if we are that influenced by what we drink out of ... I think I'll pass on wine in a can. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,

Hmmm... I haven't actually tried one so I can't comment. There was an uproar when the stelvin cap was developed and people said the romance of the cork was lost. But the stelvin may have been one of the best technologies for wine.

I still like my wine out of a Riedel glass as well....Do you just pour your can into a Riedel glass. After all, they make most wine in big steel vats now? History and the consumer will be the judge.

Cheers,
Pablo

I also find it a disturbibng trend. But it may start the demographic it is aimed at on a journey to discover better wine from a bottle and served in a Riedel glass.
